A hub for the region
Hubli and Dharwad are twin cities in the Dharwad district of Karnataka, more than 400 km by road from Bengaluru and the main commercial, educational and healthcare centre of North Karnataka. Hubli is the commercial half of the pair; Dharwad is the district headquarters and an educational centre.
The cities sit on the road and rail routes that connect Bengaluru with Pune and Mumbai, and the interior with the coast. Hubballi is also the headquarters of South Western Railway, and the city has its own airport. That makes it a practical base for moving medicines to towns across North Karnataka.
